A BLOODY MESS

This week I had some very unusual but rather exciting business going down in my Downtown Loft.  Dear friend and collaborator France Fernandez and his assistant, Lady Peach, set up shop in my living room and occupied most of my fridge and freezer with pounds and pounds of beef  out of which they were to construct a dress. Nicola Formichetti commissioned the dress for Lady Gaga to wear at MTV's VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS over the weekend.

It was quite incredible to watch the dress come to life and then to watch if become such a huge topic of conversation. Franc and Ms. Peach spend the better part of the weekend, barely sleeping at all, stringing pieces of meat over the dress form and hand stitching them together. They had to move each section back to the fridge or ice box to avoid it from spoiling. I eventually went to bed and woke up the next day to find them still in my house working away.

Many people have questioned whether or not the dress was really made of meat. I can testify that, yes, it was definitely real meat. In fact, I'm still finding pieces of it on my floor and desktop. Yuk....
